rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. Rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. The best candidates for rhinoplasty are people who are looking for improvement in the way they look.

Procedure
Depending on your anatomy and the desired changes, the operation can be performed with no visible scars (the Closed Rhinoplasty Technique) or with a small scar on the underside of the nose (the Open Technique). Osteotomies (breaking of the nasal bones) are not always needed, but you need to discuss the planned surgery with your surgeon to see if they will be necessary.

Recovery
After surgery, the nose will be dressed with a splint, which maintains it's shape as your body goes through the natural healing process. Swelling and bruising of the cheeks and eyes is common within the first 24 hours of surgery. Cool compresses placed over the eyes will be soothing, minimize bruising, and help control swelling. Discomfort after surgery is commonly due to nasal congestion, which is usually caused by swelling inside the nose. Pain is generally minimal, and should be well controlled with prescribed medications. Within 3 to 5 days, the discomfort is mild and can be managed with plain Tylenol. The splint is removed 5 to 7 days after the operation. Your nose will be swolen after surgery, but within 2 to 4 weeks, it will not be noticable with casual encounters. As minute changes make a big difference in the final result, we will not see the final result until a year has passed.

Price Range
The in our practice, rhinoplasty surgery ranges in cost from $6,000 to $8,400. If your areas of concern can be addressed via the closed approach, the surgery generally takes less time, and the surgical fee is less. If the open approach is necessary, or septal work is required, the fees increase proportinately. The exact quote will be given at the time of your consultation, and will include the surgeon’s fee, the surgery center, anesthesia and supply fees.
