Sciton Laser Forever Young BBL Photofacials

Look as young as you feel with Forever Young BBL light therapy treatment for sun damage, age spots, freckles, and redness.

BBL Photofacials Non-Invasively Treat Damaged Skin

One of the newest treatment options currently available in Dallas for rejuvenation of the skin is Broad Band Light (BBL) by Sciton, featuring Forever Young BBL photofacial (or fotofacial).

There are various kinds of photofacial technologies available. An Intense Pulsed Light procedure is a non-invasive way to treat skin damage from age, excessive sun exposure, or other factors. BBL treatment sessions erase damage to the skin without disrupting the skin’s surface; this is great for patients since it results in minimal downtime after a treatment. The downside of IPL treatments can be variability of the treatment on different patients. The BBL technology Dr. Mason uses for photofacials offers more consistent patient results.

BBL Photofacials Offer More Consistent Results

As technologies evolve, new modalities are available to treat a variety of skin conditions. Dr. Mason uses the BBL or broadband light photo facial to improve skin and reduce redness and brown “age spots.” BBL is a new generation of photo facial technology made by Sciton. The Sciton Forever Young BBL photofacial technology is the only treatment that has been proven by research to actually change the DNA structure of the skin cells, slowing down the aging process.

How Does a BBL Photofacial Work?

A photofacial in our Dallas-area office involves directing short pulses of light over the surface of the skin. This frequency of light focuses in on certain skin imperfections such as age spots and other pigmentation irregularities, fine lines, tiny capillaries, and redness due to rosacea. The great thing about the BBL laser is that instead of having to use a separate laser to focus on each of these problems separately, they can be treated all at once with the Broad Band Light photofacial. This saves treatment time and cost for the patient.

What is Facial Skin Rejuvenation with BBL?

Forever Young BBL is an innovative technology that uniquely delivers light therapy targeting the signs of aging and sun damage and effectively provides a more refreshed, rejuvenated, and youthful appearance.

A photo facial with BBL uses a technology called Broad Band Light to deliver a pulse of light to the skin that penetrates the skin layers and effectively treats dilated blood vessels, skin redness, spider veins and hyperpigmentation — also known as “liver spots” or sun damage. Areas commonly treated with BBL are areas that receive a lot of sun exposure, such as the face, neck, decollete, shoulders, and the backs of hands. A series of BBL photofacial treatments will improve the appearance of your skin with no or very little redness or “down time” after your treatments.

Is a BBL Photofacial the same as Laser Skin Resurfacing?

A BBL photo facial is a less aggressive treatment than a laser, and therefore involves less discomfort and less downtime than with laser resurfacing treatments. The BBL Sciton BBL photofacial treatment does not “resurface” the skin like a laser, but does treat hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, spider veins, sun damage, and stimulates collagen production.

What Skin Problems Are Treated With BBL Photofacials?

BBL foto facial treatments are appropriate for a variety of skin conditions. The BBL treatments help with hyperpigmentation, (brown spots from sun damage and age), rosacea, and broken capillaries. A BBL photo facial stimulates collagen and elastin formation in the skin and also tightens pores to improve the skin’s texture and make it firmer and smoother.

Minimizing Redness From Rosacea and Broken Facial Capillaries

Rosacea and broken capillaries can cause a red, ruddy, and aged look to facial skin. BBL photofacial treatments non-invasively treat these two causes of redness of the skin, and in a gentle way. BBL fades brown spots and redness with minimal side effects and down time.

How Many BBL Photofacial Treatments Will I Need?

Generally, it takes 3-5 photofacial treatments with the Sciton BBL to see visible results. The amount of treatments depends, of course, on the degree of damage done to the skin, with greater damage needing more treatments. BBL treatments are scheduled about 3 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments may be needed after your initial treatments to treat ongoing damage. We recommend using sunscreen on your skin to minimize sun damage, aging, and brown spots and hyperpigmentation that accompany sun exposure.

What to Expect During and After Your BBL Treatment

Each photofacial BBL treatment will last between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. For your treatment, we remove all makeup and skincare products, and give you a shield for eye protection from the Intense Pulsed Light. We apply a cooling gel to your skin before the BBL treatment to minimize any discomfort and cool the skin surface. After your treatment, you may have mild redness that will last less than 24 hours. After your treatment, you should avoid exposure to the sun. You will receive after-care instructions to detail your post-BBL facial care. You get the best results with a package of treatments that are 4 to 6 weeks apart.

BBL Photofacials Treat Acne

Forever Young BBL can also control active acne. The wavelengths of the BBL light attack the bacteria that cause acne, both on the surface of the skin and in the sebaceous glands where acne starts.

BBL Photofacials Are An Effective Treatment for Damaged Skin

Physicians who have used Forever BBL over the last nine years have seen results that show that their patients’ skin have not aged over that time period and looked eleven years younger than their actual age (full results from the Stanford University Medical Center study: Bitter,P, Pozner J, Restrospective evaluation of the long-term anti-aging effects of BroadBand Light Therapy. Cosmetic Dermatology, February 2013:34-40.) For more information and photos, visit
