Necklift Southlake TX
Wrinkling and sagging of the neck can add years to your appearance. A necklift surgically tightens and removes excess skin. Fat can also be removed if necessary, and underlying neck muscles, which often separate with age, can be tightened to reduce the “bands” of the neck. A necklift helps define the jawline and recreates a more youthful appearance.
The incisions for a necklift are placed either under the chin, where they cannot be seen, or behind the ears. Over time, the scars should fade so that they are not noticeable at all. Many times, a necklift is done at the same time as a cheeklift or facelift.
Necklift Recovery Details
After a necklift, pain medication will be prescribed; however, most patients do not experience a great deal of pain. There is usually moderate to severe bruising and swelling, which will decrease over time. A drainage tube may be placed during surgery, and this is removed approximately 1-2 days after surgery. You will need to rest and sleep with your head slightly elevated, and you will wear a facial compression garment to decrease swelling if Dr. Mason deems this to be beneficial.
Full recovery takes about 4-6 weeks, but most patients can return to work after 2-3 weeks depending on the amount of bruising.
In addition to surgery, Dr. Mason encourages all of his patients to begin or continue a sound skincare regimen, including daily sunscreen, to treat the aging face and neck.
